Summary of Results
|
The preliminary
design of the NCSX trim coils was reviewed. Preliminary drawings and a
draft of the System Requirements Document (SRD) were available, and the
optimization/evolution of the design vs. design objectives/margins was
presented. Material specifications (although not complete) and proposed
winding schemes were reviewed in the light of system requirements. The
coil mounting structure was reviewed, but material for clamps has not
yet been specified, and details for both the coil mounting and coil lead
structures need to be further developed. Preliminary stress analysis
for both the coil and mounting structures was presented, which has
resulted in the proposed stiffening of the coil corners, and will have
to be revisited in stress analysis of the final design configuration.
Coil cooling analysis was reviewed, as well as the resolutions of chits
from a previous peer review.
There were 18 chits
recorded during this review, concerning system requirements and
interfaces, required analysis, and proposed changes to design details.
The review committee concurred with all chits, and agreed that this
review was successful pending resolution of the chits. |
