Awad; Ronald E. Hatcher; ebaker@pppl.gov Subject: Re: Activities Related to the Use of C-Site ESAT Supplies for NCSX FYI the meeting was held this afternoon with C Neumeyer, R Hatcher, M Awad, and S Ramakrishnan in attendance. The following agreements and action items were generated... 1) Raki will generate a document delineating information to be gathered and tasks to be performed such that the C-Site ESAT Supplies' design basis can be reconstituted, and the supplies eventually reactivated for NCSX, in accordance with his vision as NCSX WBS Mgr for Power Systems. This includes documentation, inspection, testing, etc., as he has already delineated in several e-mails. 2) Ron will continue on as cognizant engineer for the subject equipment, as he has since PBX-M days. In this context the scope consists of everything "within the fence", i.e. the Robicon supplies and their AC inputs. DC circuits, control, and protection are not included in this scope. 3) Ron will review Raki's requirements from 1) above and generate a plan (cost and schedule) which will include engr (E Baker?) and tech (?) support as required. 4) Raki and Ron (with input from others) will iterate on the plan until agreement is reached. In terms of timing, the plan needs to consider that Ron will be heavily involved in commissioning the NSTX SPA in the fall. 5) Most if not all the subject activities are required input to a CDR of the NCSX 1st plasma power system. Obviously such a review cannot be scheduled until the prerequisite activities are completed. So, the CDR schedule remains TBD. 6) Present plans for NCSX use of these power supplies does not consider that a CDX need exists in the out years. Planning is not based on a shared configuration, but rather on exclusive NCSX use. This is an institutional issue which remains to be resolved. 7) Mounir is responsible for controlling the AC power status at C-site and is therefore responsible for safe access to the subject equipment. Jim Taylor is also in the loop in terms of configuring the equipment. But requests for access (e.g. by designers who need to look around at the layout, etc.) shall go through Mounir. Chas.
