Summary of WBS 1 Telecon

05 February 2003

A telecon was held to discuss progress in VV sizing.  Art Brooks presented a progress report and also provided an animation.  The present scheme in which the coils are assembled three-at-a-time over a 120 degree VV segment does not allow a full 5cm envelope between the FW and VV.  Space for the divertor and ICRF launcher in the bullet cross-section also appears to be very limited.  Hutch Neilson stressed the need to come to closure soon on the VV geometry.  Several ideas were bandied about to improve the space restrictions.  These included:
Putting the coils on one-at-a-time
Putting an assembly joint in the vacuum vessel, probably around the 30 degree point

Brooks agreed to assess these options by February 28.
