On July 1 a meeting was held with PPPL, Rohwedder, and Major
Tool representatives in attendance and ORNL representatives with Bob Keilbach
in conference. Items discussed included the VVSA joint concepts, the VVSA
geometry, a review of the FDR documentation (SOW, SPEC, and drawings), a
demonstration of PPPL's present metrology capability and a tour of PPPL.The
meeting was useful in conveying some of the concerns and restraints of the NCSX
vacuum vessel design as well as getting input from the vendors.
On July 8 the NCSX PVVS FDR was held (announcement below). The
final signed off PVVS SOW, SPEC and promoted drawings were presented. It
resulted in 5 chits and deemed successful. The design review documentation
results (including attendee list) and chits are attached:
In summary, the following issues were raised:
1) Verify that NEPA and USQD documentation is satisfactory -
Wayne Reiersen
2) Plate welds will have the root on the inside - Mike Viola
to convey
3) CHIT 1 Verify translation of models into fabrication CAM
files - Larry Sutton to convey the
following direction - please include in your MIT/QA plan for the PVVS, steps
for verifying your geometry as follows:
a) Import our geometry in either
step or native format.
b) Send the file that you will
develop for the PVVS fabrication to PPPL (in STEP if you are not using Pro-E,
and in Pro-E native format otherwise).
c) PPPL will perform a comparison
check and advise if the files
are approved for fabrication.
4) CHIT 2 Develop criteria for checking the model and
perform that check - Mike Cole
5) CHIT 3 WBS12 to include analysis of gravity loads in
October PDR - Paul Goranson
6) CHIT 4 Update the PVVS work plan job #1202 to include
receipt QA inspection including dimensional check. - Mike Viola
7) CHIT 5 Update the PVVS work plan to include metrology
development
requirements and equipment procurement to meet those
requirements - Paul
Goranson
Thank you all for your hard work in getting us through to
this point.
