REMINDER--- Tuesday, March 9th, 2004 at 10:30am

Bob

Please attend a preliminary design review of the NCSX shield wall this Tuesday, March 9th, 2004 at 10:30am in the Engineering Conference Room.

The presentation will be based upon the following reference documents.

  1. E.D. Simon, Draft of Proposal to Perform High Neutron Yield Experiments on PDX, 1980, Chapter 10 "Neutron Shielding", H.W. Kugel, Private Communication, H.W. Kugel, July 2003
  2. H.W. Kugel, " NCSX C-Site Operations Limits, 980912-HK-01, 1998.

The design is based on the following assumptions.

  1. The shielding capability for full power long pulse plasmas will be limited by the present shielding and will be augmented as required.
  2. The shielding blocks will be seismically qualified to be stacked without bracing
  3. The bottom course of shielding will provide penetrations for services.
  4. The shielding configuration will be phased to coincide with the Radiation Safety Plan.

The shield wall will require additional block to complete the design. The goal of this review is to determine the full set of requirements for the procurement of the additional block.

Regards,

Bob
