Subject: NCSX TF coil peer review

Folks

There will be a peer review of the NCSX TF coil concept on Wednesday, September 15.  The review will start a little after 1:30, since it is the third item on the agenda of the WBS 1 engineering telecon.  PPPL folks will stay in the engineering conference room and we will be connected via Netmeeting.

The basic intent of the review is to decide which wedged TF coil concept to proceed with, the baseline design (which consists of a wide coil and machined nose region) or the alternate design (which consists of a narrower coil and fabricated wedging components).

The detailed charge, committee makeup, and invitees are listed below.  Please let me know whether or not you will attend.

Thanks,

Brad

Charge:

  1. Are the two design options well enough understood to make a decision between them?
    1. Design models/drawings/integration with rest of core
    2. Design analysis, including fault conditions
    3. Assembly into field periods and final assembly
    4. Cost estimate
    5. Schedule estimate
    6. Risk assessment

  1. Does the review committee concur with the recommendation of the WBS 13 manager?
