From: Lawrence E. Dudek Sent: Thursday, June 01, 2006 3:38 PM To: Marianne Tyrrell Subject: Design review results Attachments: VV thermal insulation FDR Results.doc; ATT578038.htm There will be an FDR to review the design of the thermal insulation and associated seal boots for the vacuum vessel. The charge to the review committee is as follows: 1. Does the insulation and boot seal design meet all performance requirements, and have all safety issues associated with the loose fill insulation been addressed? 2. Do the insulation and boots satisfy envelope requirements? Are they compatible with the MC shell, cooling tubes, magnetic loops, mounting hardware, etc.? Can the insulation and boots be readily installed? 3. Have potential failure modes been adequately addressed in the design? 4. Is the design documentation required to procure, fabricate, and install the insulation and boots adequate? The review committee will consist of Dudek (chair), Brown, Cole, and Viola. Goranson is the cog engineer and will be presenting the design. Nelson is the RLM for this job. The review will be Wednesday, May 31 at 3:00 pm. PPPL folks will meet in the Engineering Conference Room. Remote folks can dial in on 866.718.9081 pass code 706670.
