No.; I need it to do my bi-weekly timesheet, which Larry signs. PPPL shop can do both GTAW and SMAW on light structural carbon steel materials. The welders prefer GTAW, but SMAW is faster, so I want to give the shop that option for this application. We would do only GTAW for SS vacuum applications, for example. I agree, we should reference only AWS D1.1 (no specific Section as there are also requirements specified in Sections 2, 3, and 4) in first sentence, and specifically D1.1 Section 6(Inspection) in second sentence. Please call if any questions Bob ________________________________ From: Thomas G. I'm not sure how your PPPL job charge arrangement is; if you have a "per customer" charge or if you have a PPPL overhead charge number. If it is per individual request, my PPPL job number for this task is: 9450 1*** 1803. I'll check with Larry or Phil to see if there is a different job number. I have a question. The parts are going to be fabricated in the PPPL shop where they generally always use GTAW welding. Is it necessary to call out "GTAW or SMAW"? Also in the PPPL engineering manual that I have attached (page 27) the only reference is for the inspection of the weld per AWS D1.1 Section 6 (for structural carbon and low alloy steel welding). Does this imply that the welding is performed per AWS D1.1 Section 5 and inspected per AWS D1.1 Section 6? Larry is on vacation and is unable to review the weld callout in the attached PDF drawing file (se185-017). There is a 1/8" fillet weld called out on a couple of parts. Drawing se1851-019 is the assembly that shows the assembled parts. Please review the drawing and give me your approval so I can submit them to the shop.
