Zarnstorff; Stefan Gerhardt Subject: VVSA3 flux loop data George and Brent I have looked in detail at the VVSA3 flux loop tracing data and can confirm that the data necessary to back out the flux loop winding locations are available in the P-drive area Tom stores the data in. However, significant work by Tom and I is needed in the processing of the VVSA1, 2, and 3 data BEFORE it is even in a form that can be used reliably by my algorithms for determining the centers of the flux loop windings. This is made evident, for example, when looking at the vvsa3_loop_tracing_th180-1.pts data where, because of the close proximity of the o-11 loops to the th180-1 loops, the laser tracking ball has had to ride above the VV surface in the gap between the o-11 and th180-1 loops because of the lack of clearance. For each dataset, we need to determine by visual inspection what the tracking ball was doing and consequently what the data corresponds to. Correlating with the digital images we have of the loops will be very important. The project will have to budget for the work by Tom (and to a lesser extent myself). The good news is that the work can be done well in the future, and the necessary data exists! Neil
