Meighan Subject: NCSX LEAD JUNCTON BOXES Tom Summarized below are our discussions and agreements on the nomenclature and provisional l ocations of the NCSX Lead Junction Boxes. These are the boxes where the transition takes place from "Cold" to "Hot". Also, as conveyed in my earlier email, you will arrange to provide appropriately sized copper pads to accept BURNDY two hole long barrel power cable lugs. All copper pads are required to be silver plated. In case of the modular coil leads there will be four 500 mcm cable lugs per pole. For the rest of the coils we need to connect only two 500 mcm cables per pole. If you need any clarifications please let me know. Please note that WBS4 need a) only two copper pads (one for each pole) for the group of six modular coil MA, b) only two copper pads (one for each pole)for the group of six modular coil MB and c) only two copper pads (one for each pole) for the group of six modular coil MC. For the TF WBS4 needs only two copper pads (one for each pole) to be brought out. Two copper pads (one for each pole)will be brought out for each PF Coil except the PF5 coil where the Upper and Lower coil leads are required to be separately brought out. 1. Nomenclature / Tag number for the boxes are: Modular Coils: B-MCC-1 a) All the current leads for all the 18 modular coils are being proposed by you to be brought to one box that will be tagged as B-MCC-1 b) All the Potential leads for all the 18 modular coils are being proposed by you to be brought to one box that will be tagged as B-MCP-1 This box is being provisionally planned to be located near the penetration C7 (Drawing 1899C) FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE AND CLARIFICATION, THE ATTACHED SKETCH SHOWS HOW THE MODULAR COILS A ARE BROUGHT OUT TO THE JUNCTION BOXES. THE COIL LEADS ARE CLEARLY NUMBERED AS "START" AND "FINISH". IN ADDITION THE POLARITIES ARE ALSO MARKED. TYPICALLY THE "START" IS "POSITIVE" AND "FINISH" IS NEGATIVE. 2.TF Coils: B-TFC-1 a) All the current leads for all the 18 TF coils are being proposed by you to be brought to one box that will be tagged as B-TFC-1 IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE PROJECT DOES NOT PROPOSE TO BRING OUT POTENTIAL LEADS FOR THE TF COILS SINCE NO RESISTANCE MEASUREMENTS ARE PROPOSED DURING OPERATION. This box is being provisionally planned to be located near the penetration E7 (Drawing 1899C) 3.PF Coils: B-PFC-1 a) All the current leads for all the PF coils (in case of PF5, the upper and lower coil leads are to be also brought out) are being proposed by you to be brought to one box that will be tagged as B-PFC-1 IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE PROJECT DOES NOT PROPOSE TO BRING OUT POTENTIAL LEADS FOR THE PF COILS SINCE NO RESISTANCE MEASUREMENTS ARE PROPOSED DURING OPERATION. This box is being provisionally planned to be located near the penetration E7 (Drawing 1899C) 4.TRIM Coils: B-TCC-1 a) All the current leads for all the Trim coils are being proposed by you to be brought to one box that will be tagged as B-PFC-1 THE PROJECT DOES NOT PROPOSE TO BRING OUT POTENTIAL LEADS FOR THE TRIM COILS SINCE NO RESISTANCE MEASUREMENTS ARE PROPOSED DURING OPERATION. This box is being provisionally planned to be located near the penetration C4 (Drawing 1899C) If you need any clarifications please let me know. Mike Zarnstorff is hereby requested to comment on the above. Raki
