Reiersen Wayne, Attached is a spreadsheet containing the trim coil current distributions when targeting a nominal value of Bmn = 1.e-4 (which for m=2 and iota prime =.3 gives islands of 5% flux). The different worksheets are for the different assumptions for untargeted resonances. The first, which requires the minimum current levels, is to ignore all other resonances for a given target. The remainder assume the other resonances included (which varies between worksheets) are targeted as well at Bmn=0. (ie each current distribution suppresses a given resonance without exciting any other). I'm not sure I can explain why, but the analysis shows that the targeting of non symmetric modes produces current distributions which don't vary as we try to avoid exciting additional symmetric modes (ie the current distribution needed to target the non symmetric modes for the last three worksheets are the same even though the number of symmetric modes for which Bmn=0. are different) Art
