Brooks Subject: fracture data Attachments: fracture data5.xls Folks Here is the fracture data with the data reduction to date. All the crack growth constants are plotted on the Data tab. There are several orders of magnitude float in this stuff. If you then look at the CF8-M tab, you see the cycles to failure for various stress levels and crack sizes for the reference NIST data from 1978. If you go to the next tab, you see data from the EIO sample EL2-1, which looks very similar. If you go to the next tab, EL-2, you see data that is a little weak. The final tab, EW-6, is our lone weld sample (I think). It does not look quite as nice as the EL2-1 data. Confused? Me too. I have asked Bob Walsh at FSU to tell us which samples he considers “good” or “representative” of the material we will have after the castings pass final inspection. Please send any suggestions you may have to resolve this issue. thanks Brad Brad Nelson Oak Ridge National Laboratory P.O.
