Reiersen Subject: input for IPT meeting and TRC field measurement testing Attachments: test summary.xls; combined field geo A.xls; BFIT_12.ppt; P9230409.jpg Wayne Please see attached info on field measurements. The basic message is: 1.. Dennis Strickler studied the problem and believed we could reconstruct the current center of the winding pack with measurements by a Hall probe and Romer arm, including the errors in both. 2.. We assembled the equipment and took ~ 8000 points of data. The data included the x,y,z location of each point as well as the field vector at each point 6500 points were taken with a current of 500 Amps in the TRC, and 1500 points were taken with a current of 750 Amps. The current was monitored during the test and the slight fall off due to temperature rise was noted. (see test summary.xls, gif file) 3.. The Romer arm was triggered by the Hall probe to take a simultaneous measurement, but the Romer arm would occasionally skip a measurement. We are still in the process of getting the data sets synchronized. 4.. The first set of data points has been corrected according to the Hall Probe calibration and offset data and for the current drop off (ie normalized to 500 Amps) The spreadsheet is attached. (see combined field geo A.xls) 5.. We are also trying to get plots of the first set of field measurements to visually see how they align with expectations.
