Summary of SIT Meeting of Monday, July 1, 2002
Discussion Material: Status of FW Modifications (Nelson)
Progress along the critical-path schedule.
Coming up with an updated coil geometry is likely to take longer than originally expected.
Coil healing is going well, but probability of finishing by mid-July is low, according to recent Hudson status report. Another month or two would improve the odds considerably.
Near-interferences between coil and NBI duct are a concern. It was decided to look for solutions which do not further constrain the coil design process.
ACTION: Dave W. investigate whether duct geometry can be modified to provide more clearance for coil.
Poincare plots for 2.5% inflated plasma show interference with RF launcher is a concern. May require more of Majeski's time to resolve. May require more discussion among Mioduszewski, Cole, Majeski, others.
ACTION: Ron get estimate of Majeski effort for the remainder of the FY.
There is marginal coil-to-VV clearance at 30 degrees.
For these reasons it was decided to take updating the coil geometry off the critical path for issuing the RFP for modular coil R&D. Instead we will base the RFP on M45 and update the coil geometry before awarding the contract. This probably extends the coil design deadline to ~mid-September.
Target date for issuing the RFP is now 9/24. Try to improve if possible.
ACTION: Brad update WBS 1 schedule.
Calendar.
The following items were added to the calendar recently posted by Wayne:
- SIT Meetings July 8 & 15 (Reiersen chair)
- Project Engineering Meeting July 24 (usual WBS 1 time slot)
- Next PAC meeting in December.
ACTION: Hutch contact David Anderson
Next SIT Meeting: Monday, July 8, 2002, 11:00 a.m. EDT. Wayne to chair; otherwise usual arrangements.
Please bring any corrections to my attention.
Thanks to all,
Hutch
