Nelson
– WBS 1 Schedule, Plan, and Issues
Discussion:
The meeting consisted of a brief presentation by Nelson on the WBS 1 schedule, plan and issues. The CDR schedule was very tight for issuing procurement packages for the modular coil winding form R&D (Nov 02) and the vacuum vessel R&D, and this schedule is in the process of being accelerated. The key date is the release of the new coil set geometry, which is currently scheduled for July 12, 2002.
The
present status and format of the task plan was discussed, including the
specific tasks that should be in progress now.
One of the tasks, “scoping the coil protection system” should be
coordinated with Raki Ramakrishnan, with input from Marsala and Schnieder from
the NSTX project.
The
resource-loaded schedule has been created in Microsoft Project and will be
transmitted to Ron Strykowsky via both Excel and Microsoft Project formats
after some more tweaking. Each task
will be initially scoped via a “planning package”, and then converted to a
“work package” immediately prior to starting the task. ORNL will report monthly
costs for each package in M&S and labor $.
We will try out the system during the summer to ensure that everything
is running smoothly.
A
short list of issues was also discussed briefly. A decision was made to use Microsoft project for the scheduling
software.

1.
Nelson to add Strykowsky and Williams to the email list for the meeting
2.
