WBS 2 Kick-Off Meeting
A kick-off meeting was held on June 21 to discuss the transition of responsibilities from Henry Kugel, who was responsible for all of WBS 2 up through the May CDR, to Tim Stevenson (assuming WBS 25) and Bill Blanchard (assuming WBS 21-23).
Blanchard and Stevenson both stressed the need to develop the layout of equipment and interfaces early to avoid unnecessary rework. This was one of the lessons learned from NSTX. Regular (about every 2 weeks) integration meetings were encouraged.
Planning and storage of legacy equipment from PBX-M was discussed. Master Equipment Lists (MELs) have been generated. The MELs identify the new owners and the location for storing the legacy equipment. WBS Managers who are re-using legacy equipment from PBX-M that will be removed from the Test Cell should review the MELs to ensure that they are properly identified as the new owners of the legacy equipment and that the equipment will be properly stored.
The NBs will be stored in the ESAT building. The TMPs will be stored on the mezzanine in ESAT.
Priorities for the balance of FY02 were discussed. These include:
Review and "buy-in" on the technical, cost, and schedule baselines and WBS Dictionary.
Testing of legacy equipment to ensure that it is functional.
Planning for FY03.
