Summary of NCSX SIT Meeting of Monday, Jan. 20, 2003
1. Announcements (Hutch)
Continuing resolution: there is reportedly momentum in
Congress to pass an omnibus appropriation for FY03 by about the end of January.
There is some optimism that it will permit new starts. Our planning assumption
of a project start on March 1 may be accurate.
End-of-CR transition: We anticipate that, when the CR ends,
DOE will ask for an accounting of what was accomplished during the CR period
and the impact on project cost and schedule. The project is drafting a reply.
2. Updating the CDR and PAC-6 recommendations log.
(Hutch)
Updates are due to Hutch on Jan. 24. ACTION: Wayne/Mike follow
up with responsible individuals.
3. MCWF Critical Issues Peer Review. (Wayne)
Peer review is scheduled for Jan. 23. Larry Dudek is chair.
A dry run will be held Jan. 22. A ROM estimate of the cost of adding the
poloidal break was requested as an additional item for the review. ACTION:
Wayne, Brad.
4. Project Control Tasks. (Ron)
The December Status Report was issued by Ron Strykowsky last
week. Ron's summary is appended below. E-mail submission of status input, which
we are experimenting with, worked well. There is likely still a need for month
status meetings to clarify the input and follow up on issues. Much of the
effort to date has been devoted to creating a workable schedule. Revised
modular coil and vacuum vessel schedules have been produced by Ron with input
from WBS 1 (see below). They will be reviewed with the WBS 1 team as part of
the dry run on Wednesday, Jan. 22, which will serve as this month's status
meeting.
Integration of NCSX and QPS resources still needs to be
done.
ACTION: Brad provide input to Ron.
5. Next SIT Meeting: Monday, Jan. 27 at 11:00 a.m.
EST.
