Summary of NCSX System Integration Team (SIT) Meeting
of Monday, July 26, 2004
1. Cost and schedule
issues (Hutch)
- Plans for re-baselining of
WBS 14 were discussed. In Bob’s absence, Hutch will take the lead in
drafting ECP-04-011 to implement the changes. Ron and Brad will supply the
backup and be the main reviewers. Deadlines for ECP-04-011: draft to
Greg for comment by COB Tuesday 7/27; to Greg in time to get his approval by
Friday 7/30. Lead: Hutch
- The project has decided to
opt for the “hybrid” power supply option and take credit for $300k of savings
in a near-future ECP. The savings are expected to be even greater, but require
design work to quantify. Phil indicated that a designer has been made
available to start design work on the hybrid option today.
2. Modular coil winding design
(Brad)
- A re-evaluation of some of
the cooling parameters had led to a decision by WBS 1 to double the number of
cooling circuits and tubes. It will require a bigger hole in the winding form.
- The twisted racetrack
design needs to be modified by adding a filler block to make the lead
penetration through the structure be prototypical of the final design.
- Fogarty and Freudenberg
will visit PPPL in August to ensure optimum communication on winding assembly
design details and reduce the risk of having to re-do drawings in the future.
- Action Brad close the
loop with Jim Chrzanowski.
3. Next SIT Meeting: Monday,
August 2 at 11:00 a.m. EDT.
