Subject: Conference call 2 PM Eastern time Monday, June 21 to
discuss fracture requirements and cable fatigue testing - WITH Attachment this
time!
Sorry...here's the attachment!
Please join a conference call at 2 PM Eastern time
Monday. PPPL folks - we'll meet in the ME conf. room. (Marianne-will you
please reserve it for me for 2 to 4? )
Agenda;
- Discussion of fracture requirements
and what our next steps should be - please see the attached
slides that we'll discuss during the call. Additons to the slide set,
other opinions, etc, would be much appreciated. If
you have any additions , please send them to the entire group and copy
meconf@pppl.gov by noon.
- Update on the cable fatigue testing at LN2
temperatures. Good news - it's achieved 20 X life. We'll
also disuss if we should continue to test this sample to
failure. If so, shold we continue at the same load or increase
it? Here's a note from Tom Kozub concerning the
status:
"Yesterday we concluded the 2.6 million cycle
test on short race track coil sample SRT3 at LN2 temperature. The
resistance remained constant throughout the testing. After the initial
150000 cycles, the legs stretched about an additional 0.010 in. during the
remaining 2.45 million cycles. The modulus was reduced by about 1/2 over
those same cycles. The sample is now warming up and visual inspection will
take place once it is de-iced."
Thanks!
Phil
