Summary of NCSX System Integration Team (SIT)
Meeting of Monday, March 22, 2004
1. Scheduling the
Final Design Review
- A good preparation plan is
now in place for the Final Design Review on May 19-20. There is a
reasonable probability that the design will be shown to meet all requirements.
- The main risk that we see
at this point is the possibility of disappointing results from the performance
analysis. This stems from the uncertainties that currently exist in some of
the material properties and the difficulty in predicting how the coil will
deflect in operation. The results may not be available until shortly
before the review. We need to anticipate how we would respond to various
negative outcomes that might occur. Responsibility: Hutch, Wayne,
Mike
- It was decided to commit to
the May 19-20 dates for the Final Design
Review.
2. RF Port
Configuration
- An RF port configuration
has been proposed by Tom Brown. It needs to be reviewed by Physics to see if
it meets access requirements and by WBS 1 to assess costs and risk. A decision
on whether to include the proposed port in the vacuum vessel design needs to
be made early this week. Responsibility:
Hutch.
3. Management Reserve Spend
Plan
- Greg Pitonak has requested
a plan for spending a significant fraction of the $2.2M currently held in
management reserve this fiscal year. The deadline is April 2.
- In developing a plan, we
will assume that the discretionary spending allowance can be increased. We
will identify in-scope tasks that match available labor resources and identify
the associated labor and M&S costs. Action: Ron develop a draft
proposal.
4 Project Control
- March job status meetings
will be held Monday, April 5.
5. Next SIT Meeting: to be
announced.
