NCSX Procurement Update of 4/13/05

Both of the major procurements had a very good week.

1. MCWF procurement

• Machining of the C-1 casting is well under way at Major Tool, and reported to be progressing very well.  Delivery to PPPL is forecast for June 24, but Major Tool is working extended shifts in an effort to improve that schedule.
  

• The Type A pattern passed inspection at Lawton and was shipped to MetalTek.
  

• The modifications to the Type C pattern were completed. Latest plans call for pouring C-2 on April 15 and A-1 on April 22.
  

2. VVSA procurement

• Panel #1 pressing and inspection were completed. Ready for polishing.
  

• Die fabrication is complete.
  

• Fabrication of the inspection gages and the 60-degree weld fixture continues.
