Reiersen Subject: Summary of today's TRC meeting Thank you for a useful meeting this afternoon. It is encouraging to see that the measurements of the top of turn 7 on side B are much closer to the target values than was the case for turn 6. Based on our discussion, my take on the near-term plan is: 1. Today: Finish winding side B and cut the cable from the spools. Continue installation of chill plates and ground wrap on side A. 2. Wednesday, 2/23: Flip the winding fixture first shift. Do measurements of the top and side of the completed side B windings. Determine how much compression is needed to get the top block of three turns to the desired height. Thursday, 2/24: try compressing the top of the winding pack on side B to see if we can achieve the desired height. Once the wheel is flipped and measurements of side B are taken, work can continue on finishing side B: setting the leads, etc. This will likely take the rest of this week with time out for the measurements mentioned above. Preparation of side A for winding can continue in parallel. The goal is to be ready to start winding side A next Monday, 2/28 In preparation for winding side A, Steve will review the existing measurements of the winding form to identify places that are close to spec and places that are bad. Verify a "good" few places with additional measurements where the chill plates and ground wrap are not yet installed or can be temporarily removed. In these good places, make new measurements of the winding form with chill plates and ground wrap in place. Some compression of the chill plates may be needed to make this reliable. Compare with measurements of the bare winding form to see if we can predict the winding surface from the measurements of the bare winding form and our knowledge of the chill plate and ground wrap thicknesses. Please let me know if this makes sense. Thanks, Brent
