NCSX Procurement Update of 3/30/05

1. MCWF procurement

• Last week, the C1 casting was found to require re-work of a few of the weld repairs. Despite a MetalTek plant shutdown over the holiday weekend, a crew came in to finish the C1.  Liquid penetrant inspection this week confirmed that the repairs were successful, and preparations were under way earlier today to ship the part to Major Tool for machining.
  

• The final problem areas in the solidification model for the C Coil have been resolved. The required Type C pattern modifications are relatively minor and will be carried out by MetalTek.
  

2. VVSA procurement

• Major Tool continues to machine, deburr, and inspect the dies, and are fabricating the inspection gages.
  

• Fabrication of the 60-degree weld fixture has started.
