Summary of NCSX System Integration
Team (SIT) Meeting of Monday, May 16, 2005
1.
Safety Items
- The ACC reviewed the
autoclave last week and commended the project for its design and attention to
safety. (Chrzanowski)
- An ACC review of MCWF
Station #1 is planned.
- Neilson visited NIF and
discussed safety among other topics. Their program integrates safety
into all meetings and features extensive investigations of procedure
violations including root cause analysis and corrective actions. Reference
materials were obtained and are available by contacting Hutch.
- Safety coordination in the
TFTR test cell. Dudek, as RLM, is responsible for safety coordination of the
multiple jobs that will be carried out there. Chrzanowski owns the coil
manufacturing facility and its operations plan. Viola owns the field
period assembly facility and its plan. Actions: Wayne follow up
with Dudek and Viola. Hutch follow up with Dudek.
- NCSX is represented in the
daily 8:30 meeting and weekly rollover meetings by Larry Dudek. Others attend
as appropriate.
2. Project Control
(Ron)
- Performance through April
was summarized. SPI=0.97, CPI=0.98, measured against ECP-030 baseline.
Cost and schedule variance contributors were reviewed.
- Follow up with Gettelfinger
on schedule for commissioning the coil test facility. Action: Hutch
- We have learned that
Performance Baseline Change to accommodate the reduced funding profile must be
approved by the Deputy Secretary. Process is still being determined by DOE.
- A detailed estimate for the
balance of FY-05 has been developed. It shows that ORNL will approximately
spend out (but is tight) and PPPL will under-run by about $2M including $1M in
labor and $1M in procurements. The review highlighted the necessity to push
procurements of vacuum vessel and TF hardware, both tooling and parts.
Action: Ron arrange meeting with Procurement to review our priorities
for the remainder of the year.
3. Modular
Coil Winding Preparations (Wayne)
- The lead block has been
re-designed to accommodate fabrication concerns, however the new design
requires thicker stock of the G-11 material, which has a 6-8 week lead time.
The machining will have to be done in outside shops. Start of winding could be
impacted. Chrzanowski is pushing to place the order for the
material.
4. MCWF Fabrication
(Phil)
- Delivery of the C-1 casting
is still forecast for June 24, with some risk of delay. Phil recommends that
we plan on June 24.
- Inadequate QA documentation
is a risk. Phil is organizing telecons and meetings with EIO to follow up on
the QA requirements.
- Fracture test results were
received May 16 and are being reviewed by Phil
