NCSX Procurement Update of 11/22/05

1. MCWF procurement

Machining operations:

• The C-2 casting is in its final machining operation on the 5-axis machine. The project’s expectation is that it will ship around Dec. 10.
  

• The C-3 casting continues making good progress through 3-axis machining operations. They are currently roughing the poloidal break.
  

• The C-4 is in rough machining on the Lucas machine.  A total of 3 castings, C-2, C-3, and C-4, are in machining operations on three different machines.
  

• The A-1 casting is at Major Tool.
  

Foundry operations:

• The C-5 has completed foundry operations. Final documentation review is in progress prior to release for shipment to Major Tool.
  

• The A-2 is undergoing weld upgrades.
  

• The A-3 is in its first radiographic testing.
  

• The B-1 casting was shaken out of its mold and the gating system cut off.
  

• The C pattern has been set up in preparation for re-pouring the C-6 casting.
  

2. VVSA procurement

• Welding of ports into the first 120-degree segment continues.
  

• The second 120-degree segment has completed radiographic testing and is in the queue for machining the port openings.
  

• Fabrication of the large ports is progressing.
  

• Fabrication of the first spacer is almost complete.
