1. Modular Coil fabrication
(PPPL)

C1 coil by 2/28/06, or 29 days ahead of schedule for the Level II milestone
scheduled for March.

Machining operations (Major Tool and
Machine):
C-3
- The C-3 is in 5-axis
operations on the U5. Repair of the tool gouge that occurred before the

delivery of C-4 on 3/10/06. Our assessment is that it will be in
April.
C-5
- The C-5 is in the queue for
the Mitsu-40.
A-1
- Rough machining of the A-1
on the Lucas-40T is expected to start in the near
future.
A-2
- The A-2 completed foundry
operations over the holidays and was shipped to Major

- An NCSX delegation from
PPPL and ORNL is at Major Tool this week to discuss possible technical changes
that could improve the machining
schedule.
Foundry operations (MetalTek International):
A-3
- Weld repairs were completed
and the A-3 will be shipped to MQS for radiographic
testing.
B-1
- The B-1 is at MQS for
radiographic inspection.

in progress in preparation for pouring the A-5 in
mid-January.
3. VVSA procurement (Major Tool and
Machine)
- The end flanges are being
tacked onto the first 120-deg segment in preparation for the final
weld.
- The second 120-degree
segment is on the DSI milling machine, and the large port openings have been
cut.
- Fabrication of the fifth
and sixth 60-degree half-segments continues.
