Machining operations (Major Tool
and Machine):
A-3
- The A-3 is making good
progress in 3-axis operations on the Mitsu-40. Forecast to move to U5 later
this week.
- The project’s delivery
milestone is August 16. Forecast to ship to PPPL by the end of
July.
A-4
- The A-4 has completed some
3-axis operations on the Mitsu-30, but was “bumped” by the B1/B2 coils in an
effort to give priority to those coils and complete the first field period as
early as possible. PPPL was consulted and agrees with this decision.
- The project’s delivery
milestone is October 24.
B-1 and B-2
- The B-1 is in rouging
operations on the Mitsu-30. The Mitsu-30 was down for several days last
week. On July 5 it was reported to be repaired and being realigned for return
to service this week.
- B-2 roughing operations
have resumed on the Lucas 40T, which returned to serviced last week after
being down for several days.
- The project’s delivery
milestones are September 20 and November 29. It is currently expected that
both B-1 and B-2 will meet or beat the project’s
schedule.
The expected delivery sequence for the next few
coils is A-3, B-1, B-2, A-4.
A-5, A-6, B-3, B-4, B-5, B-6, and

B-5, B-6, and C-6 are in the queue for
machining.
Foundry operations (MetalTek International):
B-5 and B-6
- Both B-5 and B-6 were
shipped to MTM on June 30, completing the foundry operations on the winding
form program.
- Only administrative
matters, including the open issue of pattern storage, and clean-up of
documentation remain to be completed.
