Summary of NCSX System Integration Team (SIT) Meeting of Monday, May 8, 2006

1.   Management items

• Discussed recent visits by Orbach and Decker.
• PPPL Annual safety forum is Monday, May 15, 8:30-12:00N
  

2.    Risks

• Readiness for Stage 1 Field Period Assembly
  
  • VVSA #1 is due to arrive May 9.
  • Main readiness issue is completing documentation (receipt inspection and FPA #1 assembly procedures) and ACC review. Latter is scheduled for May 16.
  • First activities are metrology, saddle loop installation. All materials are available for these.
  • Assembly drawings documenting quantities of parts have not been issued, but parts procurements are not being held up.
    
• Modular coil design deliverables.
  
  • Type A drawings are issued. Type B drawings are ~80% complete. We are ahead of the wave, at last.
  • Type A prosthetic piece is on order but deliver schedule is tight.
  • Shear pin design will be tested in the next few days.
    
• C1 cold testing.
  
  • Strain gauge locations have been established.
  • We need to track this closely to ensure testing gets completed by June 9.
    
• Final assembly
  
  • Romer arm measurements of the VVSA #1 end flange should be made at PPPL.
    

3.    Project Control (Ron)

• April cost-performance data is in the process of being collected.
