1. Modular Coil fabrication
(PPPL)
MC Fabrication summary status:
4 in
production
2 completed through VPI prep
1 fully
completed.
C-2 Coil
- Completed VPI
successfully.
C-3 Coil
- Outer chill plate
installation completed. Cooling tube being installed.
- Milestone for completion of
VPI prep activities and moving to the VPI station is June 6. Saturday work is
planned to maintain schedule.
C-4 Coil
- Ground wrap installed.
Lacing strips being applied.
- VPI prep completion
milestone is July 20. On schedule.
C-5 Coil
- Metrology and stud
installation beginning
- VPI prep completion
milestone is August 29. On schedule.
2. MCWF procurement (Energy
Industries of Ohio)
MCWF summary status:
All 18 castings
have been poured
3 in foundry operations
10 in machining operations
5
delivered.
Machine tool status update: The reconditioned
gear for the Mitsu-40 has arrived and is being installed. Machine is expected to
be running by the end of the week. The Lucas also suffered a crash last
Friday- damage to the drive train. It is being repaired and is expected to be
running by the end of the week.
Machining operations (Major Tool and
Machine):
A-1
- The A-1 is in final
inspection. Now expected to ship Tuesday, May 30.
- The project’s delivery
milestone is June 8.
A-2
- Half-way through 3-axis
operations on the Mitsu-40. Processing suspended while machine repairs are
accomplished.
- Updated delivery forecast
will be provided when repairs are completed.
- The project’s delivery
milestone is July 13.
A-3 and A-4
- The A-3 and A-4 are
beginning 3-axis operations in tandem on the Mitsu-30.
- The project’s delivery
milestones are August 16 and October 24.
B-1 and
B-2
- The B-1 and B-2 are
alternating in roughing operations on the Lucas 40T.
- The project’s delivery
milestones are September 20 and November 29.
A-5, A-6, B3, and
C-6
- The B-3 was received from
MetalTek
- The A-5, A-6, B-3, and C-6
are in the queue for roughing operations on the Lucas
40T.
Foundry operations (MetalTek International):
B-3
- The B-3 completed foundry
operations and was shipped to Major Tool.
B-4
- The B-4 passed final X-ray
and returned from MQS. Now in final stress relief and
inspection.
B-5
- The B-5 is in excavation
and mapping and ready to begin weld upgrades.
B-6
- The B-6 completed initial
X-ray and returned to the foundry,
3. VVSA procurement (Major
Tool and Machine)
- VVSA #2: undergoing
inspection and port removal.
- VVSA #3: Ports are being
installed.
4. TF Assemblies procurement (Everson Tesla,
Incorporated)
- We have been
notified by Fermilab that they expect approval formalities for loan of the
induction braze unit to be completed this
week.
- Mike Kalish
(tech. rep) and Joe Rushinski (designer) visited ETI to discuss drawing issues
and design details. CAD files were provided to
ETI.
- Tooling for bend sample
tests is in progress. Plan is to bend at least one complete turn with
shortened straight leg. The goal is to develop the fixturing so that
they can get closer to a zero stress state at the proper bend radius and
minimize spring back.
