1. Modular Coil fabrication
(PPPL)
MC Fabrication summary status:
4 coils through
winding operations and VPI
C-4 Coil
- In the queue for post-VPI
cleanup
C-5 Coil
- Installation of the VPI
mold and sprues is nearly complete in preparation for VPI
- VPI prep completion
milestone is August 16. Current forecast is Sept. 21, 25 working days behind
schedule.
A-1 Coil
- Winding pack measurements
and dimensional adjustments complete. Lacing strips are being closed.
- VPI prep completion
milestone is October 2. Current forecast is Oct. 17, 11 working days behind
schedule.
A-2 Coil
- In casting prep operations.
Dimensional scans in progress
- VPI prep completion
milestone is November 10. Current forecast is Nov. 27, 9 working days behind
schedule.
A-3 Coil
- In the queue for winding
operations.
2. MCWF procurement (Energy Industries of
Ohio)
MCWF summary status:
All 18 castings
have completed foundry operations
5 in active machining operations
5 in
the machining queue
8 shipped to PPPL
Machining operations (Major Tool
and Machine):
B-1
- Completed machining
operations and began final inspection.
- PPPL personnel are making
plans to visit Major Tool Sept. 26 to review final inspection data. It is
expected to ship by the end of September.
- The project’s delivery
milestone is September 20.
B-2
- The B-2 resumed 3-axis
machining operations on the Mitsu-40 after some machine problems last week. It
was forecast to move to the U5 to begin 5-axis machining earlier this week.
- The project’s delivery
milestone is November 29 for B2. It is expected to ship in mid-to-late
October.
A-4
- The A-4 is in the queue for
the Mitsu-40.
- The project’s delivery
milestone is October 24 for A-4.
B-3, B-4, and
B-5
- The B-3 is in 3-axis
machining on the Mitsu-30, cutting the poloidal break.
- B-4 and B5 are rotating in
rough machining operations on the Lucas 40T.
- The project’s delivery
milestone is January 11 for B-3.
- The project’s delivery
milestone is February 14 for B-4.
- The project’s delivery
milestone is March 20 for B-5.
The expected delivery sequence for the next few
coils is B-1, B-2, A-4, B-3, B-4.
A-5, A-6, B-6, and
C-6
- The A-5, A-6, B-5, B-6, and
C-6 are in the queue for machining.
3. VVSA procurement (Major Tool
and Machine)
- VVSA #3: Shipped 11:00
Wednesday. Expected to arrive Thursday.
4. TF Assemblies procurement
(Everson Tesla, Incorporated)
Activities at ETI are currently focused
on setting up the winding line:
- Clean Room is 85%
complete
- Winding fixture is
scheduled for delivery this week.
- Materials received for
Brazing Fixture and machining is 50% complete.
- Taping machine mods 85%
complete, Baldor will program drive.
- Conceptual design of coil
inspection fixture ready for PPPL review.
