Driving Directions to PPPL

From the NORTH/NEW YORK CITY
Take the New Jersey Turnpike south to Exit 9 (New Brunswick). After the toll booths, take the first right turn onto the ramp for Route 18 north. Soon after you enter Route 18, take the left side of a fork in the road, staying in the right lane. Immediately bear right for an exit to U.S. Route 1 south/Trenton. Drive south on Route 1 to the Sayre Drive exit (about 15 miles). Turn left at the end of the ramp and go under the underpass. Proceed past the unmanned booth and immediately turn left on to Stellarator Road. Follow Stellarator Road to the stop sign, follow the curve in the road to the right, and you will come to the entrance of PPPL. Stay in the left lane and stop at the Security Guard booth to present i.d. and gain clearance.

From the WEST
Driving east on Interstate 78 into New Jersey, exit onto southbound Interstate 287 (toward Somerville). Follow signs for Routes 202/206 south. Go south on 202 for a short distance and then follow signs to 206 south, which will take you around a traffic circle. Go south on 206 for about 15 miles to Ewing Street. Turn left onto Ewing, through one traffic light and bear left. Ewing then becomes Harrison Street. Take Harrison all the way through the town of Princeton to Rt. US 1. Turn left onto US 1 northbound.

Travel about two miles north on Route 1 to the Sayre Drive exit. At the end of the ramp, bear right, go past the unmanned booth and immediately turn left on to Stellarator Road. Follow Stellarator Road to the stop sign, follow the curve in the road to the right, and you will come to the entrance of PPPL. Stay in the left lane and stop at the Security Guard booth to present i.d. and gain clearance.

From the SOUTH
If you are coming from southern New Jersey, we recommend that you take Interstate 295 north (instead of the New Jersey Turnpike). Take Exit 67 to Route 1 north. Travel about five miles north on Route 1 to the Sayre Drive exit. At the end of the ramp, bear right, go past the unmanned booth and immediately turn left on to Stellarator Road. Follow Stellarator Road to the stop sign, follow the curve in the road to the right, and you will come to the entrance of PPPL. Stay in the left lane and stop at the Security Guard booth to present i.d. and gain clearance.

From the EAST
Take Interstate 195 west (toward Trenton) to the exit for Interstate 295 north. Drive seven miles to the exit for Route 1 north (exit 67). Travel about five miles north on Route 1 to the Sayre Drive exit. At the end of the ramp, bear right, go past the unmanned booth and immediately turn left on to Stellarator Road. Follow Stellarator Road to the stop sign, follow the curve in the road to the right, and you will come to the entrance of PPPL. Stay in the left lane and stop at the Security Guard booth to present i.d. and gain clearance.

From the PHILADELPHIA AREA
Take Interstate 95 north into New Jersey and exit at Route 1 north (exit 67). Travel about five miles north on Route 1 to the Sayre Drive exit. At the end of the ramp, bear right, go past the unmanned booth and immediately turn left on to Stellarator Road. Follow Stellarator Road to the stop sign, follow the curve in the road to the right, and you will come to the entrance of PPPL. Train Travel To PPPL


Amtrak and New Jersey Transit operate trains along the Northeast Corridor rail line that stop at Princeton Junction. There is a taxi line at the station. PPPL is approximately 5 miles from Princeton Junction.

Travelers to central Philadelphia have two options via SEPTA regional rail:
1. Take N.J. Transit to Trenton Station and switch to the SEPTA R7 train to Philadelphia;
or
2. Drive to the West Trenton Station (Drive south on I-95 toward Pennsylvania, take exit 2, and follow Bear Tavern Road south to the station) and take the SEPTA R3 train to Philadelphia.

Princeton Area Airports
Princeton can be reached via four international airports. The two closest and most easily accessed are:
  • Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), which is 40 miles north
  • Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), which is 55 miles south
  • John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
  • LaGuardia International Airport (LGA)
Train Transportation from and to airports:
  • New Jersey Transit trains (800) 772-2222 NJT Airport connection info
    • Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR): From Princeton Junction, take N.J. Transit's Northeast Corridor line northbound. Debark the train at Newark Liberty International Airport and transfer to the AirTrain monorail.
    • JFK: From Princeton Junction, take NJ Transit Northeast Corridor Line northbound to NY Penn Station. Directions for AirTrain from NY Penn Station
  • SEPTA regional rail (215 580-7800)
    • Philadelphia International Airport (PHL): From Princeton Junction, take the Northeast Corridor line southbound, which will end after two stops at Trenton station. Transfer to the SEPTA R7 train to Philadelphia 30th Street Station. Take SEPTA R1 train from 30th Street to the airport.
Ground Transportation from and to airports:
  • Airporter (800-385-4000) to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and JFK International Airport
    • This commercial van service stops regularly at several hotels along US Rt. 1 and in Princeton.

Entrance Procedures for PPPL

Notification prior to arrival of visitors to PPPL is highly recommended to reduce time and possible complications at the Security Gate.

Upon arrival at PPPL, adult visitors must show a government-issued photo I.D. (for example, a passport or a driver's license)

All non-U.S. citizens must show a government-issued photo I.D., and provide the following information: citizenship, date of birth, and place of birth.

PPPL Security retains the right to inspect all vehicles and personal property before entering or leaving the site.
