Subject: Seismic Meeting notes
Notes from yesterday's meeting. Action items highlighted.

Attendees: Kalish, Titus (MIT), Parsells, Perry, Levine, Dahlgren, Gettelfinger, Dudek

Mike Kalish reviewed his first draft of a seismic requirements document for NCSX. He simplified the IBC into four categories,
A. Buildings,
B. Non- Buildings supported by other structures,
C. Non-Buildings with self supportiing structures
D. Rigid Non-building structures.
In other cases a dynamic analysis may be used. R. Parsells still needs to review this document as a check on Mike's work.

Dahlgren reported he had sent Chang's model from the magnetic permeability analysis to Titus and was still trying to track down some of the drawings for the NCSX building structure and adjacent building structure for input into Pete's global model. C. Potensky was working on getting the drawings which Fred will transmit to Titus when they become available.

Parsells stated he could use the floor response information from Pete's model to try to reduce the bracing requirements of the shield wall. Without a reduction in bracing requirements from a more detailed analysis the shield wall could require roughly $500k of bracing upgrades. In order to provide the floor response spectra Pete will require help from a CE to provide soil spring values. Pete has a colleague, Bill Bonanos who provided this data for the CMOD seismic work. Pete offered to contact him to determine if help for NCSX might be available. He thought it was on the order of 2 manweeks of support needed.

The possibility of obtaining help from the engineering firm working on the roof upgrade over NCSX was also discussed. Fred Dahlgren offered to contact C. Potensky to find out if the Engineering contractor may be able to provide consultation.
